Last Updated: 9 months ago

Students of the Community Service Program (KKN) of the Faculty of Islamic Religion and Teacher Education (FAIPG) Djuanda University (UNIDA) Group 2 Cipelang Village, held a counseling session with the themeSmart, Anxiety-Free Business, and Building Halal, Usury-Free MSMEs. (July 27, 2025)

Many small business owners in Cipelang Village are trapped in high-interest loans, causing financial stress and impacting family harmony. Through the Women's Business Madrasah (MUI) program, it is hoped that the Cipelang Village community will understand the dangers of usury, learn about sharia financing solutions, and begin designing blessed, halal businesses.

The event began with an icebreaker and a light Q&A session to lighten the mood and build camaraderie among participants. Next, participants participated in a chain chat session to share personal experiences about debt, providing a gateway to understanding the financial issues they face daily.

The event continued with a brief presentation on the dangers of usury and its impact on families and businesses, along with real-life stories of business owners caught in usury as concrete examples. To raise awareness, a debt collection role-play was conducted depicting the uncomfortable situation of being trapped in interest-bearing debt.

Clarisa Damayanti Mausul, a KKN FAIPG UNIDA student, said that usury is like a disease that makes it increasingly difficult for us to get out of financial problems.

"Usury is like a disease that makes it increasingly difficult to overcome financial problems. Islam offers a solution through a fair, interest-free sharia financing system, so our businesses will be more blessed and our hearts will be at peace," he said.

Mrs. Siti, a Seblak Buffet business owner in Cipelang Village, expressed her enthusiasm in participating in the counseling.

"This activity opened my eyes to the fact that there are legitimate ways to borrow capital. I'm motivated to learn more," he said.

The hope from the implementation of the activity is participants understand the dangers of usury, begin seeking sharia financing solutions, and are motivated to develop halal businesses. The next output is the development of a mini-business plan that can be submitted to a sharia financial institution.
