Lecturers from the Elementary School Teacher Education Study Program (PGSD), Faculty of Islamic Studies and Teacher Education (FAIPG), conducted an academic visit to the Teaching Factory of Universiti Teknikal Malaysia Melaka (UTeM), Malaysia, on January 28, 2026. This activity was part of efforts to strengthen international academic networks as well as to explore potential collaboration through a Memorandum of Agreement (MoA) between the PGSD Study Program of FAIPG and the Teaching Factory of UTeM.
Assoc. Prof. Dr. Zahra Khusnul Lathifah, M.Pd.I, as the faculty leader, emphasized that this academic visit was not merely an institutional visit, but also a strategic moment to gain comprehensive academic insights and to explore broader opportunities for collaboration with various faculties within UTeM. In her direction, Assoc. Prof. Dr. Zahra Khusnul Lathifah, M.Pd.I advised the faculty representatives participating in the visit to actively and strategically explore potential follow-up collaborations that could be realized in the form of sustainable academic partnerships.
For this academic visit, the faculty appointed a lecturer from the PGSD Study Program, Assoc. Prof. Dr. Helmia Tasti Adri, M.Pd.Si, as the representative. On this occasion, Assoc. Prof. Dr. Helmia Tasti Adri, M.Pd.Si expressed her gratitude and appreciation for the opportunity to directly observe the implementation of the Teaching Factory at one of the most renowned technical universities in Malaysia, Universiti Teknikal Malaysia Melaka (UTeM).
During the discussion session on the Memorandum of Agreement (MoA), Associate Professor Datuk Dr. Sabri bin Mohamad Sharif, Deputy Vice Chancellor of Universiti Teknikal Malaysia Melaka (UTeM), conveyed that UTeM warmly welcomed the academic visit from the PGSD Study Program of FAIPG. He also expressed his hope that this visit would be followed up with more concrete and sustainable collaborations in the fields of academics, research, and the development of learning innovations.
This academic visit aimed to gain a comprehensive understanding of the management of the Teaching Factory as an integrated learning model that connects theory, practice, and the needs of the professional world. The Teaching Factory at UTeM is known as a center for applied learning development that encourages collaboration between higher education institutions, industry, and the community, making it highly relevant as a reference for the development of innovative learning, particularly in the context of elementary teacher education.
During the visit, presentations and academic discussions were held regarding the concepts, management system, and implementation of the Teaching Factory at UTeM. In addition, potential areas for further collaboration were discussed in the fields of education, research, curriculum development, and the implementation of project-based learning that could be adapted within the PGSD Study Program.
Through this academic visit to the Teaching Factory of UTeM Malaysia, it is expected that sustainable and mutually beneficial collaboration will be established between the PGSD Study Program of FAIPG and the Teaching Factory of UTeM, particularly in the development of learning innovations, the enhancement of competencies of lecturers and prospective teachers, and the strengthening of the implementation of the tridharma of higher education. This activity also reaffirms FAIPG’s commitment to expanding international networks and improving the quality of higher education.
