PGSD Lecturer of Universitas Djuanda Represents the University at the ICOSTELM 2026 International Seminar in Malaysia

A lecturer of the Elementary School Teacher Education Program (PGSD) at Universitas Djuanda, Dr. Helmia Tasti Adri, M.Pd.Si, was appointed as a university representative at the International Conference on Science, Technology, Education, and Learning Management (ICOSTELM) 2026, held on January 29, 2026, at UGM (Universiti Geomatika Malaysia). This international seminar served as a prestigious academic forum that brought together academics, researchers, and education practitioners from various countries to share ideas, research findings, and interdisciplinary scholarly experiences.

ICOSTELM 2026 was officially opened with a welcoming speech delivered by Prof. Datuk Sr Dr. Mohaizi bin Mohamad, President of the Group of Geomatika Malaysia. In his remarks, he expressed his appreciation for the presence of international academics and emphasized the importance of global collaboration in the development of science, technology, and education. Forums such as ICOSTELM were highlighted as strategic platforms for strengthening international academic networks and fostering innovative learning approaches that respond to global challenges.

The participation of Dr. Helmia Tasti Adri, M.Pd.Si in ICOSTELM 2026 reflects Universitas Djuanda’s strong commitment to promoting academic internationalization and enhancing lecturers’ contributions at the global level. This involvement also represents the university’s efforts to strengthen the implementation of the Tridharma of Higher Education, particularly through the dissemination of research findings in the fields of elementary education and inclusive education.

During the parallel seminar sessions, Dr. Helmia Tasti Adri, M.Pd.Si had the opportunity to share and present her primary research, which focuses on STEM learning and the development of scientific reasoning among students with mild disabilities. The study highlights the importance of adaptive, inclusive, and research-based learning approaches in enhancing scientific thinking skills among elementary school students, especially within inclusive classroom settings. Her presentation attracted significant attention due to its relevance to global issues concerning equitable access to education and the strengthening of 21st-century competencies for all learners.

ICOSTELM 2026 also featured several international keynote speakers. One of them was Prof. Ghasem Muhammadi, M.A., Ph.D. from Iran, who reflected that international academic activities are not only platforms for scholarly development but can also be interpreted as journeys to strengthen faith in God Almighty. According to him, academic endeavors should ideally bring balanced benefits between scientific advancement and the reinforcement of spiritual and religious values, so that cross-border academic journeys contribute not only to worldly achievements but also hold spiritual meaning and value for the advancement of religion.

On the same occasion, the President of ASEANACA, Prof. Dr. Tulus Suryanto, M.M., Akt., CA, as the chief organizing committee member, stated that ASEANACA is committed to facilitating academics, particularly prospective professors, in participating in international scholarly forums. He emphasized that ICOSTELM serves as a strategic platform for exchanging knowledge, ideas, and cross-national experiences to advance science and generate tangible contributions to national development.

Prior to the departure for this activity, Dr. Zahra Khusnul Lathifah conveyed her message to the university representative, encouraging her to make the most of this opportunity. She stressed the importance of establishing international academic communication, expanding scholarly networks, and bringing back knowledge, experience, and new inspiration that could contribute to the future development of Universitas Djuanda.

Through active participation in ICOSTELM 2026, Universitas Djuanda hopes that the involvement of this PGSD lecturer will not only strengthen the university’s position in the international academic arena but also generate a tangible impact on improving educational quality, strengthening lecturers’ research capacity, and advancing inclusive elementary education that is globally oriented and grounded in strong academic and spiritual values.
