The Faculty of Islamic Studies and Teacher Education (FAIPG) held a socialization and preparation session for the International Internship Program and International Community Service Program (KKN) in Thailand on May 3, 2026. This activity serves as an initial step in preparing students to participate in the international program, which is scheduled to take place in July 2026. Through this program, students of the Faculty of Islamic Studies and Teacher Education will gain valuable international experience.
The socialization session was officially opened by the Dean of the Faculty of Islamic Studies and Teacher Education, Dr. Abdul Khalik, M.Pd.I, who emphasized the importance of strengthening students’ global experience as part of developing academic, professional, and social competencies in the era of educational internationalization. “This International Internship and International Community Service Program is expected to provide students with direct experience in understanding the culture, educational system, and social life of the international community, particularly in Thailand,” he stated.
The socialization and preparation agenda was led directly by the Vice Dean for Academic Affairs of FAIPG, Dr. Helmia Tasti Adri, M.Pd.Si. In her presentation, she explained the various preparation stages that students must undertake, including departure administration, academic and cultural orientation, mental readiness, and the technical aspects of program implementation at the destination. The participants consisted of all fourth- and sixth-semester students within the Faculty of Islamic Studies and Teacher Education.
This international program is planned to involve students from three faculties and will include various academic activities, educational observations, community service projects, and cultural exchange programs in Thailand for approximately one month and ten days.
The International Internship and International Community Service Program is not being conducted for the first time. Similar activities have been successfully implemented in previous years and have become one of the flagship programs of the Faculty of Islamic Studies and Teacher Education in supporting the internationalization of higher education. In previous implementations, fourth- and sixth-semester students also participated in international community service and field practice activities in Thailand, yielding positive outcomes and providing valuable global experiences.
In its implementation, the program will be integrated with the conversion of courses based on Community Service Activities (PKM). Students will carry out various social, educational, and community empowerment activities in collaboration with foundations and several organizations in Thailand. This collaboration is expected to provide students with practical experience in applying their knowledge, social skills, and cross-cultural communication abilities directly within an international community setting.
In addition, students will gain contextual learning experiences through interactions with local communities, educational institutions, and partner communities involved in the program. The initiative is expected to cultivate students with a global perspective, leadership qualities, social awareness, and strong adaptability in international environments.
Through this socialization activity, the faculty hopes that all participating students will prepare themselves thoroughly so that the 2026 International Internship and International Community Service Program in Thailand can be implemented successfully, provide academic benefits, and further strengthen the university’s reputation in the development of international collaboration.
