Creativity to Prevent Stunting in Prosperous Children (CESARA), FAIPG UNIDA KKN Students Introduce Pumpkin Pudding as PMT in Villages

Last Updated: 1 year ago

KKN-T group 6 students from the Faculty of Islamic Religion and Teacher Education (FAIPG) Djuanda University (UNIDA) have implemented an innovative program entitled "Creativity to Prevent Stunting in Prosperous Children" in Pasir Jaya Village. We present 2 FIPHAL students as resource persons who are superior in conveying comprehensive information about PMT. This program aims to increase awareness and provide practical solutions in preventing stunting, especially through providing additional food (PMT) made from pumpkin. (13/08/2024 )

Stunting is one of the main health problems that is still a challenge in Indonesia, especially in rural areas. KKN students realize the importance of early nutritional intervention, especially for toddlers and pregnant women. In this program, students introduce pumpkin pudding as an alternative to PMT that is nutritious, easy to prepare, and liked by children

Yellow pumpkin pudding was chosen because it is rich in vitamin A, fiber and antioxidants which are good for children's growth. Apart from that, pumpkin is also easy to obtain and affordable, so it can be a long-term solution for families in the village. In this activity, KKN students not only provided training in making pumpkin pudding, but also conducted outreach about the importance of balanced nutrition for children's growth and development.

Pumpkin pudding is a practical and sustainable solution for village communities to prevent stunting and is an example of how often overlooked local food ingredients can be processed into highly nutritious PMT. This program received a positive response from village residents. Apart from training and outreach, KKN-T students also distributed 50 cups of pumpkin pudding to PMT at Posyandu Krisan 02, Kp. Pasir Menjul, Pasir Jaya Village, as the target of the activity.

This activity is part of the KKN-T students' commitment to assist the government in reducing stunting rates in Indonesia. By involving the community directly, it is hoped that this program can run sustainably even after the KKN-T activities are completed.
