Technology is currently developing very rapidly. With the development of technology, it is becoming easier for people to get information quickly and precisely according to their individual needs. Of course, with the development of this technology, MSMEs can use it to promote their products.
In the current era, there are many ways to promote, one of which is by utilizing technology. If MSMEs can utilize technology, they can get the opportunity to attract new consumers outside their area to market their products. There are many ways to promote using technology, one of which is social media such as Instagram, Facebook, X, and others.
Based on this, the Thematic Real Work Lecture Student Group (KKN-T) Faculty of Islamic Religion and Teacher Education (FAIPG) Djuanda University (UNIDA) Cileungsi Village, Ciawi District, Bogor Regency, initiated mentoring activities digital marketing and packaging for Mochi MSMEs in Loji Village RT 01 RW 02, on Sunday (13/08/2023).
Guan Utama as the representative of the KKN-T Group said, digitalization of marketing is an important thing for MSMEs to master. By digitizing marketing, it will make it easier for MSMEs to attract new consumers outside the areas where MSMEs usually market their products. Then, with the right marketing strategy and the content presented that attracts consumers, sales of MSME products will increase over time.
"Through the use of social media, MSMEs will cut quite a lot of promotional costs. "What MSMEs must pay attention to is how to fill content on social media so that consumers are interested in buying MSME products," he said.
Guan Utama said, besides digitalization of marketing, another important point that MSMEs must pay attention to is how to package their products so that they are attractive to potential consumers. Starting from choosing suitable and safe packaging for the products being marketed and packaging design, it is no less important that potential consumers are interested in buying MSME products.
"There is another thing that MSMEs must pay attention to, namely product packaging. Product packaging is the first thing consumers see before they try the goods that MSMEs produce. "If the packaging used is not attractive and safe then it is certain that consumers will not buy the product, but if the packaging used is attractive and safe then it is certain that consumers will be interested in buying the product being sold," he added.
The owner of Mo-Mochi UMKM, Cicah, said that the extension activities presented by the students were easy to understand.
"It is true that nowadays social media can be used as the most effective promotional media for my products. The business that I am running can be said to be new, it has only been running for about 1 year and I have tried to promote my products through social media, namely Instagram and WhatsApp.Alhamdulillah"The results are very effective," he said.
Cicah said, even though he had carried out promotions and sales through social media, there were several things that were only discovered after counseling by students, namely, that the content presented on social media tended to be monotonous.
Apart from presenting material about marketing digitalization, there was also counseling about packaging designs that are suitable for use by the products being marketed.
"So far, the packaging I use tends to be old-fashioned and is often used by MSMEs like me. "Hopefully the input from sources regarding this packaging can have a good impact on the products IN market," he said.
Meanwhile, Nanang Solihin as Head of Kampung Loji Hamlet appreciated the initiation carried out by the FAIPG UNIDA KKN-T Group regarding this MSME assistance.
"Today's MSMEs must be able to keep up with the times, therefore it is very important to provide education about marketing digitalization so that MSMEs understand and apply it for the progress of their current business. "Hopefully the information provided about marketing digitalization and packaging design by resource persons can be useful for MSMEs to advance their businesses," he said.
