Last Updated: 2 years ago

Cileungsi Village in Ciawi District, Bogor Regency, is a village that has an area of 701,219 Ha with a rice field area of 160,309 Ha and an area of fields and gardens of 87,380 Ha. Based on its potential, Cileungsi Village empowers its community by forming Women Farmer Groups spread across several areas.

One type of plant planted is Cilembu sweet potato which has many benefits. However, people still process Cilembu sweet potatoes by simply boiling or frying them, so they don't look attractive, especially for children, so many children are reluctant to eat Cilembu sweet potatoes.

Based on this, an innovative food preparation made from Cilembu sweet potatoes is needed to make it look more attractive. So PULABI (Pudding Fla Ubi) was created which was initiated by the Thematic Real Work Lecture Student Group (KKN-T) of the Faculty of Islamic Religion and Teacher Education (FAIPG) Juanda University (UNIDA).

As an effort to introduce PULABI, the FAIPG UNIDA KKN-T Student Group held an outreach to residents of Cileungsi Village, precisely in Loji Village, on Monday (21/08/2023).

Hasbiya Salsabila as Chair of the KKN-T Group said that this socialization activity was carried out to introduce PULABI innovation products to the people of Kampung Loji, Cileungsi Village so that they could make their own at home as a nutritious snack for children and could also be used as a business idea.

Hasbiya Salsabila said that this activity was also a continuation of the seminar stunting which was held on Wednesday (09/08/2023) at the Cileungsi Village Hall. PULABI is one of the processed foods that is attractive, delicious, cheap, and rich in benefits, especially in preventing stunting in children.

"After the process of networking and selecting ideas as well as several trials, we finally succeeded in creating an innovative product, namely PULABI. The reason we chose to use Cilembu sweet potatoes is because one of the KWT products is Cilembu sweet potatoes so that the people of Cileungsi Village, especially Loji Village, can easily get these sweet potatoes. "We hope that PULABI can be used as a healthy and nutritious snack idea for children," said Hasbiya.

Meanwhile, in the material presentation session, Adinda Salwa Fajriati as the resource person explained that in Cileungsi Village, a group of women farmers cultivated Cilembu sweet potatoes as agricultural products. Therefore, the FAIPG UNIDA KKN-T group in Cileungsi Village innovated by making PULABI (Pudding Sweet Potato), which PULABI has never been made by the residents of Cileungsi Village.

“We are inspired by food for preventing stunting. As we know, at this time children are vulnerable to being affected by stunting, and Cilembu sweet potatoes are one of the preventive food choices stunting"That's why we chose pudding because many children will definitely like it, because it tastes sweet and can be served cold," he explained.

Further on this occasion, Adinda Salwa Fajriati explained how to make PULABI.

"To make PULABI, we only need to prepare Cilembu sweet potatoes, gelatin, water, powdered milk, sugar, cornstarch and food coloring. Making it is quite easy. First, we boil the sweet potatoes until cooked, then we mash the sweet potatoes. After that, put the sweet potatoes into a pan, mix with gelatin, powdered milk, sugar, water and food coloring. "Then we cook it over medium heat until it boils, after that we can mold it according to our wishes," he explained.

"To make Fla is quite easy, we only need to prepare the milk then we heat it on the stove, then add sugar according to taste, when the milk has boiled, mix in the cornstarch solution and stir until it thickens," he continued.

One of the socialization participants, Tuti, expressed her thanks to the students who had opened their minds about PULABI's innovation. He hopes that the variety of interesting Cilembu sweet potato preparations can further increase children's appetite for consuming sweet potatoes as part of efforts to prevent stunting.

"With this outreach, we will know that Cilembu sweet potatoes can not only be boiled or fried, but can also be an interesting preparation. "The product is very good and innovative, so children feel attracted to consuming nutritious food because it looks attractive," said Tuti.
