Islam emphasizes the importance of protection and care for those less fortunate, including orphans. In Islam, the existence and position of orphans is essential to note. One of the commemorative moments in protecting orphans is to coincide with the 10th of Muharram in the Hijri year.
The commemoration teaches Muslims about the moral and social obligation to protect the rights of orphans and pays special attention to them in daily life.
In the hadith, it is stated that "Whoever rubs the head of an orphan (loves) on the day of Ashura (10 Muharram), Allah will lift him up as much as the orphan's hair is wiped by his hands".
So it can be concluded that whoever cares, loves, and cherishes orphans will be rewarded and elevated by Allah SWT as much as a strand of a child's hair that he wipes using his hands.
That is what underlies the Thematic Real Work Lecture (KKN-T) group students of the Faculty of Islamic Religion and Teacher Education (FAIPG) of Djuanda University (UNIDA) in carrying out their service work programs in Cileungsi Village, Ciawi District, Bogor Regency.
The KKN-T FAIPG UNIDA Student Group collaborated with the Al-Khoeriyyah Foundation to organize compensation for orphans and older people to commemorate 10 Muharram 1445 Hijri on Tuesday (8/8/2023). Located at Majelis Taklim Al-Khoeriyah 1, this activity was filled by tausyiah by presenting FAIPG UNIDA lecturer Muhammad Rendi Ramdani, S.Pd.I., M.Pd.
Guan Utama, as the Chief Executive on this occasion, expressed his gratitude to the Al-Khoeriyyah Foundation for allowing him to jointly organize the 10th anniversary of Muharram by holding donations for orphans and older people. Thank you also to the donors who have helped in the success of this orphan and elderly compensation event so that the event can run smoothly. For information, the compensation package amounted to 42 parcels, and compensation money was given to 20 orphans and 22 older people.
"Hopefully what has been given by the donors gets a reward from Allah SWT, not forgetting the hope that by holding this compensation event hopefully it can bring goodness, get pleasure from Allah. Hopefully through this activity it can be an example for everyone, not forgetting we hope that this will be a jariyah charity as a provision of our reward and helper in the hereafter," he said.
Meanwhile, in the tausyiah session, Muhammad Rendi Ramdani, S.Pd.I., M.Pd explained about the 10 Muharram, afdholan glorifying orphans, the rewards obtained by giving compensation, and recommendations to care for orphans, especially in the month of Muharram.
"Every Muslim is encouraged to multiply charity starting from almsgiving, fasting, including glorifying orphans, even if only by rubbing his head. The virtues of glorifying orphans include that we have the opportunity to become friends of the Prophet SAW in heaven, then also for orphan caregivers to get guaranteed entry to heaven, get help from Allah SWT, avoid grave torture, and most importantly as a charitable investment for the hereafter, "he explained.
One of the residents of Cileungsi Village, Khodijah, hopes that this event will be an afterthought to share with others is one of the commands of Allah SWT, especially to orphans.
"Alhamdulillah, this compensation event went well and smoothly, hopefully it can arouse and foster a sense of social solidarity between fellow communities in building togetherness, care, unity and unity," he said.
