Last Updated: 4 months ago

MELAKA, January 28, 2026 – As part of the International Tridharma Visit & Academic Program (Batch 6), a delegation from the Faculty of Islamic Studies and Teacher Education (FAIPG), Djuanda University (UNIDA) carried out a courtesy visit and a series of strategic academic activities at Universiti Teknologi MARA (UiTM) Cawangan Melaka.
On the second day of the visit, Wednesday (28/1/2026), the agenda included a Courtesy Visit, a seminar entitled “ASEAN Issues,” and an Academic Workshop.

The activities at UiTM Melaka marked an important milestone in implementing the theme “Strengthening International Academic Networks with Malaysia.” Through in-depth discussions on contemporary issues in the Southeast Asian region, as well as workshops focusing on curriculum development and collaborative research methodologies, the program fostered meaningful academic exchange.

This collaboration with UiTM Melaka is designed to significantly support the achievement of Key Performance Indicators (KPI/IKU) of higher education institutions. The ASEAN Issues Seminar and Academic Workshop directly contribute to IKU 6 (Study Programs Collaborating with World-Class Partners) and IKU 5 (Lecturers’ Work Utilized by Society or Receiving International Recognition).

Furthermore, the exchange of ideas within this forum represents a concrete manifestation of the Impactful Campus Program, where higher education institutions do not merely engage in theoretical discourse but actively formulate solutions to regional ASEAN challenges through cross-national academic perspectives.

The Head of the Islamic Banking Study Program, Imam Abdul Aziz, SEI., M.Si, stated that the ASEAN Issues Seminar and Academic Workshop at UiTM Melaka had a substantial impact on strengthening the academic quality and professionalism of the program.

“This activity is highly strategic for the Islamic Banking Study Program as it provides an opportunity to broaden perspectives on the development of Islamic finance and banking at the ASEAN regional level. Through seminars and academic workshops, we can conduct curriculum benchmarking, refine teaching methods, and strengthen research so that they align with the needs of the halal industry and the global Islamic financial system,” he explained.

He added that the outcomes of this activity would serve as important input for curriculum development and the enhancement of graduate competencies.

“We aim to ensure that graduates of the Islamic Banking Study Program at FAIPG UNIDA are not only strong theoretically but also adaptive to the dynamics of the regional Islamic financial market. Synergy with UiTM Melaka opens opportunities for research collaboration, student exchanges, and the development of internationally oriented academic programs,” he emphasized.

Meanwhile, Maya Apriyana, a lecturer delegation member from the Islamic Banking Study Program, expressed that her participation in this activity provided a highly valuable academic experience.

“For me, participating in the ASEAN Issues Seminar and Academic Workshop at UiTM Melaka was an extraordinary experience. We not only gained new insights into academic issues and educational developments in the ASEAN region, but also learned how higher education systems in Malaysia professionally manage research and learning,” she stated.

She also believed that the activity could motivate students to develop a global mindset.

“This activity opens our perspective and builds confidence to engage in international academic forums. I feel motivated to improve my academic, language, and research skills so that in the future I can contribute more actively to international cooperation and bring pride to the Islamic Banking Study Program of the Faculty of Islamic Studies at the ASEAN level,” Maya concluded.
