KUALA LUMPUR, January 29, 2026 — The Islamic Banking Study Program of Universitas Djuanda (UNIDA) continues to strengthen its international presence through active participation in the Tridarma International Visit & Academic (Batch 6). On Thursday (29/1), the delegation from the Islamic Banking Study Program took part in the prestigious international conference, The 6th International Conference on Sustainability in Technological, Environmental, Digital Innovation, and Governance for Global Development (6th ICOSTELM 2026), held at the Grand Hall, Tabung Haji Tower & Universiti Geomatika Malaysia, Kuala Lumpur.
The conference, which is part of the ASEANACA International Conference series, serves as a strategic forum for academics from various countries to discuss global issues related to sustainability. On this occasion, the Islamic Banking Study Program of UNIDA presented an academic study highlighting the role of Islamic finance and banking in supporting the achievement of the Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs) and strengthening sustainable economic development in the global era.
The participation of the lecturers from the Islamic Banking Study Program in this international forum represents a concrete implementation of the Higher Education Key Performance Indicators (IKU), particularly IKU 3 (Lecturers Engaging in Activities Outside the Campus) and IKU 5 (Lecturers’ Work Receiving International Recognition). Active involvement in international conferences reaffirms the program’s commitment to the internationalization of the tridarma and the strengthening of global academic networks.
The Dean of the Faculty of Islamic Studies and Teacher Education (FAIPG) of Universitas Djuanda, Dr. Zahra Khusnul Lathifah, M.E.C., expressed her appreciation for the participation of the Islamic Banking Study Program lecturers in the international academic forum.
“The presence of the Islamic Banking Study Program of UNIDA in international forums such as ICOSTELM 2026 demonstrates that studies in Islamic economics and finance have global relevance, particularly in addressing the challenges of sustainable development. This is proof that UNIDA continues to move toward becoming an impactful and internationally competitive university,” she stated.
Meanwhile, Maya Apriyana, M.E., as a representative of the Islamic Banking Study Program delegation, emphasized that the conference serves as an important platform to broaden perspectives and foster collaboration.
“Issues of sustainability and the SDGs cannot be separated from the financial system. Islamic banking has a strategic role in promoting economic justice, sustainable financing, and community empowerment. Discussions with international academics provide valuable direction for future research and the development of Islamic Banking scholarship,” she said.
The participation of the Islamic Banking Study Program in the 6th ICOSTELM 2026 further underscores UNIDA’s contribution to the development of Islamic economics at the global level. The series of activities within the Tridarma International Visit will continue until January 31, 2026, with subsequent agendas focusing on international community service and the strengthening of institutional cooperation across the ASEAN region.
