PPK Ormawa HIMA PGSD UNIDA Team Initiate PETALIDAS Program, Encourages Improvement of Welfare of Kuta Megamendung Village Residents

Last Updated: 2 years ago

There is something different in the activities of the Capacity Building Program (PPK) of the Primary School Teacher Education Student Association (HIMA PGSD) of the Faculty of Islamic Religion and Teacher Education (FAIPG) of Djuanda University (UNIDA) in Kuta Village, Megamendung District, Bogor Regency.

In carrying out the program, the HIMA PGSD PPK Team carries out activities to teach out-of-school children, provide digital literacy and eradicate illiteracy. This program is named "PETALIDAS", namely "Improving the Quality of Education and Digital Literacy of Village Communities in Building Smart Villages".

The Chief Executive of the activity, Restu Yuwanda Aprilia, said in his report that this activity would be carried out for 4 to 5 months, starting from July 2023. He said that teaching and learning activities with out-of-school children would be carried out for 1 week 3 times starting in September.

The subjects studied include Mathematics, Social Sciences (IPS), Natural Sciences (IPA), Citizenship Education (PKN), Religion and Indonesian, as well as English as an additional subject.

Restu further said that the program initiated by his team is expected to increase interest in education in Kuta Village.

This problem related to education was explained by Field Supervisor (DPL) Teguh Prasetyo, M.Pd who stated that the school dropout rate was higher in rural areas or villages due to a lack of education and attention.

"Therefore, I really support students and especially HIMA PGSD Djuanda University to take a role in providing guidance and assistance to children who have dropped out of school in Kuta Village," he explained.

"Hopefully the mentoring program and collaboration with PKBM there can facilitate and motivate them to return to school, and children can re-educate," he added.

To overcome this problem, the PPK Ormawa HIMA PGSD UNIDA Team, in one of its series of activities, invited UNIDA FAIPG Lecturer M. Rendi Ramdani, M.Pd as a resource person to provide education and understanding regarding the importance of the role of education.

“Education is important and decisive, to be successful we must have a goal in life. "It is very important for us as parents to encourage our children to continue their education, because education is a lifelong need, without education it is difficult for humans to develop," he said.

Not only solving educational problems, the PPK Ormawa HIMA PGSD UNIDA Team also seeks to improve the economy of the residents of Kuta Village. One of the concrete efforts made is by training Kuta Village residents through an entrepreneurship program.

Utilizing the potential in the Kuta Village environment is the focus of the development of the Ormawa HIMA PGSD UNIDA PPK Team so that residents can see opportunities that can be empowered. Ir. Nur Rochman, MP as a resource person presented in the entrepreneurship program said, in the current digital era, everything is very easy to use. However, sensitivity and skill are needed in exploiting this opportunity to become something of selling value.

"Regarding entrepreneurship, Kuta Village has great potential for entrepreneurship. Examples include the antanan plant, which is useful for making children intelligent or entrepreneurial, or whatever plants are around us. "When we want to become an entrepreneur, there is one key, we have to be sure that we will get blessings on condition that we work hard, are willing to learn, don't give up and are sure that we will succeed," he said.
