TIGGICETING (Improving Nutrition to Prevent Stunting): Building a Healthy Generation and Increasing Concern for Children's Growth

Last Updated: 1 year ago

A group of 15 KKN students from the Faculty of Islamic Religion and Teacher Education (FAIPG) Djuanda University (UNIDA) held the TINGGICETING (Improving Nutrition to Prevent Stunting) Program at Posyandu Melati 9, Sirnaresmi Village (07/08/2024)

This program aims to build a healthy generation and increase public awareness and concern for children's growth in order to prevent stunting. The main activities carried out included counseling regarding stunting led by the chairman of the KKN, Dandi Hermawan. In the counseling, Dandi explained that stunting is a condition of failure to grow in children under five due to chronic malnutrition and recurrent infections. Some of the causes of stunting explained include lack of nutritional intake for pregnant and breastfeeding mothers, lack of exclusive breastfeeding, and suboptimal complementary feeding (MPASI). Recommended prevention efforts include consuming balanced nutritious food, regularly monitoring children's height and weight at Posyandu, and implementing clean and healthy living behavior (PHBS).

Mrs. Kader Sri Wangsih believes that stunting is a condition where a child's growth is disrupted so that his height is shorter than children his age.

Apart from counseling, KKN students also provide additional food in the form of green bean porridge after health checks and provide vitamin A to the children. This activity was followed by monitoring children's growth carried out by Posyandu cadres together with KKN students.

Mrs. Kader Sri Wangsih commented "Thank God the activity went smoothly with the help of UNIDA students"

Through this series of activities in the TIGGICETING program, it is hoped that it can improve the health of Indonesian children and prevent stunting, so that a healthy, intelligent and highly competitive generation will be formed in the future.
