Increasing Literacy and Interest in Reading, Group 6 Students of KKN-T FAIPG UNIDA Collaborate with GERKATIN Bogor to Donate Books in Pasir Muncang Village

Real action in increasing public access to education continues to grow. Thematic Real Work Lecture (KKN-T) students from Group 6 of the Faculty of Islamic Religion and Teacher Education (FAIPG) Djuanda University (UNIDA) collaborate with the Indonesian Deaf Welfare Movement (GERKATIN) Bogor City to make efforts to increase literacy and interest in reading by donating reading books , Al-Quran, and Iqro books in Tajur Village, Pasir Muncang Village, Caringin District, Bogor Regency on Wednesday (16/8/2023).

The reading books donated are illustrated and colorful story books that are very interesting for children. In addition, the Al-Quran and Iqro were also donated to improve Arabic reading literacy and improve worship facilities.

This community service activity is not only about providing books, but also about providing inspiration to the community regarding literacy. The students from Group 6 of KKN-T FAIPG UNIDA also held interactive sessions with the children, reading interesting stories from the donated books, as well as providing basic lessons from the Iqro book. The children enthusiastically took part in this activity, showing their enthusiasm for learning and developing.

One of the students, Nisa Asilmi, said that donations for this book were obtained from donors and other collaborating institutions, one of which was the Bogor City Indonesia Deaf Welfare Movement (GERKATIN).

"We believe that investment in education is an investment in the future of the younger generation. Hopefully this donation of books and Iqro can help children in Tajur Village to gain the knowledge and skills they need," he said.

Meanwhile, Resti Yektyastuti, M.Pd as Field Supervisor (DPL) expressed his appreciation to the students and all donors who took part in this activity.

"We express our thanks, gratitude and appreciation to all parties who contributed reading books, Iqro and Al-Quran so that the residents of Tajur Village can benefit from it. "Also to GERKATIN Bogor City which always spreads the benefits of this activity," said the UNIDA FAIPG Lecturer.

The Head of Tajur Village, Suhada, appreciated the efforts made by UNIDA KKN-T Group 6 students. He called this contribution a meaningful contribution that would have a positive impact on the education of children in Tajur village.

“The efforts of UNIDA students underscore the important role of students in making meaningful social contributions. With the donation of reading books and Iqro, they have brought the light of education to Tajur Village, brightening the children's hopes and future with knowledge and inspiration. "Hopefully this step will inspire other communities to share and contribute to developing education across the country," he said.
