KKN students from the Faculty of Islamic Religion and Teacher Education (FAIPG) Juanda University (UNIDA) Group 16 of Gunung Guruh Village built a Reading Corner at SDN 03 GUNUNG GURUH, the theme of this activity was Creating a Smart, Bright and Champion Generation. (1/8/2024)

The ability to read is a basic skill that is very important for students' academic and personal development. However, in the current digital era, interest in reading books is often replaced by other activities such as playing with gadgets and watching television. This lack of interest in reading can have a negative impact on students' literacy skills and academic achievement. Therefore, efforts are needed to foster and develop an interest in reading from an early age through a supportive and enjoyable environment.
Reading corners in elementary schools can be an effective solution to overcome this problem. By providing a special room equipped with a variety of interesting books and reading materials, it is hoped that students will be more interested and motivated to read. Reading corners can also be a comfortable place to study and socialize, as well as developing students' literacy skills.
This reading corner program aims to increase students' interest in reading from an early age by providing easy access to various interesting books and reading materials. Apart from that, this program also aims to improve students' literacy skills, create a fun learning environment, and encourage sustainable reading habits. This program also focuses on developing students' creativity and imagination, strengthening social relationships between students, and involving the participation of parents and the community in supporting children's literacy development. With this background and objectives, it is hoped that the reading corner program can be an important step in improving literacy and the quality of education in elementary schools, as well as forming a generation that likes to read and is knowledgeable.
Yanthi Karteria S.S M.Pd. as Principal of SDN 03 Gunung Guruh delivered a speech at this activity.

Hopefully this experience will be useful for your academic journey. To the children I love, make good use of this Reading Corner. Read existing books with enthusiasm and curiosity. Make reading a pleasant habit, because through books, you can explore a wider world. That is all that I can say. Thank you for the attention and support of all parties. Wassalamu'alaikum warahmatullahi wabarakatuh," he said

"I, Chair of the KKN and all group members, feel very proud and grateful to be able to contribute to the development of this village through the Reading Pojok program. This program is a form of our concern for the importance of increasing interest in reading and access to literacy among elementary schools. We realize that this program would not be possible without support and cooperation from various parties. Therefore, allow me to express my deepest gratitude to the principal and teachers of SDN 3 Gunung Guruh, as well as colleagues who have supported and actively participated in creating the Reading Corner. We hope that this Reading Corner can be useful for everyone students at SDN 3 Gunungguruh and can continue to grow with additional book collections and more varied activities in the future. "Let's maintain and make the best use of this facility so that it can provide long-term benefits," he said
Tita Nursyifa as deputy chair of the Gunung Guru Village KKN explained the aims and benefits of building the reading corner program.
"Today we will discuss the "Reading Corner" program which aims to increase students' reading interest and ability at SDN 3 Gunung Guruh. The background of this program is removed from the fact that students' interest in reading in Indonesia is still relatively low, which can have a negative impact on their learning achievement. Pojok Baca is here as a solution to provide wider access to various interesting reading materials, such as story books, encyclopedias and magazines. The main aim of this program is to foster reading habits and enrich students' insight through activities such as group reading sessions, book discussions and reading competitions. Implementation of a reading corner includes collecting books through donations as well as creating a comfortable and attractive reading room at school. The benefits of this program are enormous, not only for students who will be more skilled and creative, but also for schools who will have a more inspiring learning environment. The success of the program will be evaluated periodically through observations and surveys, with the hope that this program can be sustainable and have a positive impact in the long term. I invite all participants to support and actively participate in this program." he said
Arjuna Al Fatih, a Class 6 student at SDN 3 Gunung Guruh expressed his opinion about building a reading corner at the school.
"In Arjuna's opinion, the reading corner that has been created by the seniors of the 16 Gunung Guruh village groups has made the students of SDN 3 Gunungguruh more enthusiastic about reading so that it can increase our insight and knowledge. Thank you to the seniors who "We have created a reading corner so that now our school has a reading corner," said Arjuna

The hope of the chief executive is that this reading corner will be useful for the students of SDN 3 GUNUNG GURUH, and can increase their interest in reading and love of knowledge.
